First of all, it’s ok to not know how to produce a outdoor movie night or popup drive-in event. Each year Southern Outdoor Cinema produces hundreds of large scale outdoor movie events at schools, cities, parks, and other open spaces around the Southeast.
Southern Outdoor Cinema was created in 2005 when Paul Murray visioned an event which recreates a small town feeling, was wholesome for families and was free to attend in his community. Without any event management or sponsorship sales expertise, he became committed to my vision and created the Georgia Movies in the Park series in the North Atlanta area.
Within a year Paul developed the skills to obtain funding of the series, master event marketing and technical production of a large community outdoor movie event. The outdoor movie series has been named by About.com as one of Atlanta’s Best Outdoor Movie Events.
Guests at the events started to ask “how do I do this for my school, my church, my town” or “how can I fundraise with movies”? What Paul didn’t realize at the time was that his system of producing outdoor movie events with small-budgets would work for others. Out of these requests, he wanted to help others, so he started the company Southern Outdoor Cinema in 2005.
